Another Day on the Frontier by Rob-Caswell Another Day on the Frontier by Rob-Caswell
The Enterprise orbits a pulsar on a star charting mission.

Unlike my previous Trek work, this one fell together in 20 mins ;) Background via my own Photoshoppery (again). Enterprise model by the prolific David Metlesits.

DAZ Studio.

Thanks. We don't see enough real astronomy in Trek, for some reason?

Ikr, though I don't know how the Enterprise got that close without the extreme radiation getting through the shields and killing everybody on board, but nvm that.

Ah, the original Enterprise, gotta love that classic design.
Great rendering, love it.

"Classic", for sure! She's quite the enduring design.

Indeed, the modern redesign seems kind of bulky in comparison.

Most definitely not a common view of the Enterprise, but one I think that can be used for a rather dramatic effect. The lighting of the scene helps emphasize the lighting on the ship's hull, something that is not usually so noticeable in other shots involving this hull configuration.

Yeah, anytime I can effectively play with elements of a deep space lighting feel, I try to wedge it in. I really enjoy the extreme contrasts the ship is lit by, here. Blazing light on one side and cold deep space on the other.

Thanks. Obviously those old covers are a running undercurrent in my work. They meant so much to me and provided so much mood and imagination fuel. Redoing all those covers for press would be a dream job!!! :D

Great iconic image of the ship at work. Love how the cool blue light on the shadowed side of the ship is used to pop her off the warm background. Breath-taking!
