First Strike by Rob-Caswell First Strike by Rob-Caswell
If it was a fire fight the Gorns were after, the Constitution and Columbia were more than willing to oblige.

I don't do many battle pix, but davemetlesits' ([link]) new photon torpedo graphics resource cried out to me for some experimentation.

Connie by Aggie, Scout/Destroyer by some game I can't ever remember. Rendered in DS3 and finished in Photoshop.

Nice under-shot of the action, though it kinda makes me dizzy.

That's GOOD! With no up or down, you should be dizzy!

Interesting to see the Hermes class scout at work. I never could decide if I liked that design.

Yeah, the whole issue of Franz Josef's designs are.... complicated. They're cool/fun, but they did throw a monkey wrench into some of Trek's internal tech logic... plus they set us down this path of mixing and matching saucers and nacelles, which is now a given (unfortunately).

I agree. The simple use of existing components that those designs suggest show a certain lack of either imagination or resources. Shared components would be realistic I suppose. But the designs that Franz Josef came up with seem impractical given their assigned missions. Though the "Saladin" class is better armed than the "Hermes" class, both types in my opinion seem very limited in their scanning capability. Also, their engine placement would seem to make them vulnerable to damage, and make them large targets given their large frontal areas.
