simple elegance! pity we didn't (as of yet) didn't get to see more of this ship in trek. i'm astonished that this design of matt jefferies is similar to NASA's concept warp ship, and so is your own Uss Sagittarius design in the seekers novels.
Well the NASA design that got all the publicity was done by a frequent Star Trek modeler, so that may lend some of the similarity. But the two-ring design of the Alcubierre warp concept does bear a striking similarity to the ring ship components. Old Matt Jeffries was just a tech prophet, I guess
That's what I love about Heinlein novels---he was an engineer, trained at the U.S. Naval Academy, holder of patents that are to this day classified top secret. Write what you know...gawd, I miss that cranky old perv.
The description of the original show sounds a lot like what eventually became "Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda". I guess I'm happy it eventually got absorbed into Trek, but I always think of it as an original design in its own, unique background. I'm an old-timer, that way
