Naw. Not recently, anyway. I enjoyed the movie era stuff in its day, but the whole universe just became so twisted up. Even the movies turned the franchise into some ill-winds, starting with #3 where the Vulcans were turned into magic space elves Naw, TOS is my playground now. It was my first love and seems to be the only era that's really retained its charm for me through the years.
To each their own. I agree there's much to like about the '79 refit, but I think the area that feels most "off" to me are her nacelles. I greatly prefer the update offered by Deg (and modeled by Greywolf-Starkiller). There's just something about those big, orange Bussard collectors that calls to me Or at least it's calling to my free hydrogen atoms
I was thinking that very thing after posting these.... and wondering if that was a good or bad thing? I hate to get stuck in a color rut. But I'm not sure if I'm using this color/light approach because a) I like it, or b) I haven't come up with much else that's proven to work as well.
Heh - and I didn't mean to sound defensive in my response Like I said, it's just that it dovetailed with my own thoughts/observations and reinforces my dedication to see if I can push my own envelope a bit more. So.... thanks! I didn't take it as any kind of slight. Now go watch Middleman!!!!!!!!!!
Seems strange then that modo and lightwave on my lappy that never had the original max model on it (or max installed period) load it up with all the details with only the two window tiles included in the zip.
They were vertex mapped onto the mesh, all that was needed was the two repeatable tile textures (the windows), just seems a little odd so I'm going to experiment later by trying the mesh on my spare comp. I'll keep you posted anyway.
OK. I thought they might be vertex maps, but I couldn't seem to find any way to make them visible in my materials manipulation. It's be cool to get that working so I could get up close and personal with the model
Thanks. It's sorta the Arcas(tm) deep space Trek palette, but it seems to work for folks. I guess I like it because it feels "cold and dark". Of course in the depth of winter, surrounded by 3' of snow, who knows why I'm looking to recreate in images?!?!? I think I need to do a Star Fleet beach party, next
