All of your Star Trek covers are absolutely fantastic! (The 'wear' and other marks on the Seekers covers are marvelous touches!) Among the original covers, the art for number 8 has always been my personal favorite. This one is also my favorite of your versions. The angle of the Enterprise also made me think of something else....it would be great if you would do a cover of the novel 'Galaxy 666' by Pel Torro. For anyone who is unfamiliar with that, the publisher took an Enterprise model kit, stuck a spar between the nacelles, and used the unauthorized 'disguised' result as part of the artwork on the book cover!

Yeah, I'm not sure what the draw is to the original #8 by Lou Feck, but I feel it too. It's just so nicely done and makes such a solid visual and SF-mood impact.

Any digital artist who stays true to the clasic Enterprise design is truly a Trekker.

Yep - I'm pretty guilty of Old School inclinations.

The very first Star Trek episode I ever saw, those silver eyes gave me the heebie jeebies for weeks :)
Another great book cover, would love to have these on my shelf. Love the scan line effect.

Hm. Maybe if they ever get released as e-books, I can get the cover honors?

Yep - those glowing eyes were definitely creepy! I'm probably glad I didn't see that one in its first run, when I was young and impressionable.

Too bad they used the hottest chick to appear in the whole series in the pilot. It was all pretty much down hill after her.

Although, they did sneak in a few bonus babes...

Another awesome cover.

BTW - based on you recommendation I'm picking up Star Trek: Constellations. If it sucks, you own me.

I agree wmwconnors. Sally Kellerman was very hot. And certainly a nice pair if you catch my meaning. I always enjoy going back and watching this particular episode.

Actually, I think this episode, Where No Man Has Gone Before, was the second pilot with The Cage being the first, but which was originally rejected by the studio.

But I could be wrong. My Star Trek trivia talents have diminished over the years.

She was hot as Rodney Dangerfield's love interest in Back To School decades later. Ouch.

As for the nice pair, I assume you mean her lovely eyes. ( o ) ( o )

I've tried to stay mostly with the ship, but in this epsiode... well, they become more than characters, they become gods. So I figured I'd try to convey that by giving them a cosmic presence, like they're looking down at the Enterprise with omniscience. I kind of doubt I'll be using more characters on the remaining covers.... but never say never. All options are open :D

That's weird. I'd actually forgotten that, but you're right.
What's even weirder is that the cover art for the first ST book (which was actually made to advertise the program at its TV debut in various newspapers and in TV Guide) was mainly taken from scenes of this same episode even though that episode wasn't in it!!! The dilithium cracking station is especially recognizable, but so isthe scene with the crewman (Kelso?) holding the communictor.

Well with VERY few exceptions, those original covers were generic. I think ST6 or 7 may have been the only one with a direct episode tie in (Who Mourns for Adonais).

ST 7, and I remember noticing that. But I still disliked that particular cover more than any of the other original ones. The stupid looking mask-like face at the top made the whole cover look surreal and most un-Star Trek-like. The book itself also had very few episodes I ever particularly liked anyway.

Well I seem to be going through at a pretty good clip. ST9 presents a similar problem to ST7 - too many juicy choices! But I'm already brainstorming.

Bazinga! Including Gary and Dr. Tenner is pure genius. And the lens flare in his eye - nice touch. This cover is one of my faves. Maybe one day have a vote to see which one people like best. Just an ideer, pilgrim.
