All of your Star Trek covers are absolutely fantastic! (The 'wear' and other marks on the Seekers covers are marvelous touches!) Among the original covers, the art for number 8 has always been my personal favorite. This one is also my favorite of your versions. The angle of the Enterprise also made me think of something else....it would be great if you would do a cover of the novel 'Galaxy 666' by Pel Torro. For anyone who is unfamiliar with that, the publisher took an Enterprise model kit, stuck a spar between the nacelles, and used the unauthorized 'disguised' result as part of the artwork on the book cover!
I've tried to stay mostly with the ship, but in this epsiode... well, they become more than characters, they become gods. So I figured I'd try to convey that by giving them a cosmic presence, like they're looking down at the Enterprise with omniscience. I kind of doubt I'll be using more characters on the remaining covers.... but never say never. All options are open
That's weird. I'd actually forgotten that, but you're right. What's even weirder is that the cover art for the first ST book (which was actually made to advertise the program at its TV debut in various newspapers and in TV Guide) was mainly taken from scenes of this same episode even though that episode wasn't in it!!! The dilithium cracking station is especially recognizable, but so isthe scene with the crewman (Kelso?) holding the communictor.
ST 7, and I remember noticing that. But I still disliked that particular cover more than any of the other original ones. The stupid looking mask-like face at the top made the whole cover look surreal and most un-Star Trek-like. The book itself also had very few episodes I ever particularly liked anyway.
Bazinga! Including Gary and Dr. Tenner is pure genius. And the lens flare in his eye - nice touch. This cover is one of my faves. Maybe one day have a vote to see which one people like best. Just an ideer, pilgrim.
