Description
Time for yet another Past-Blaster (tm). This one's by request. Some of you may remember FASA's Star Trek RPG. One of the ships that they created for the game was the Ranger class Scout Escort. I immediately latched onto the design for its cool shape and its small size (ideal as an RPG ship!).
The original Ranger featured movie era nacelles, but I was a purist even then. I wanted to retrofit it to the TOS era so I redesigned the nacelles and struts, then decided to do it up in proper Franz Josef Tech Manual format. If I recall even those section numbers at the top fit the page into the proper book section
I made this back in the very early 80's, using my drawing board, T-square, and compass. The lettering was all pressure mount stuff - typical for graphics arts at the time. But it doesn't age well. Tends to flake off. So I redid all the callouts digitally for this scan.
I still like this lil' ship and got a warm, fuzzy feeling inside when I ran across Colourbrand's illustration of it [link]

Love Franz Joseph's work (and the FASA stuff that came later), so of course I love this. Beautifully drawn.
