Starminds

In the science series, "Cosmos", Carl Sagan employed his "ship of the imagination" to allow us to explore and experience interstellar wonders. For me, Star Trek's Enterprise has been my personal "ship of the imagination" since I first became a fan of the series in reruns. In my mind, the Enterprise let me explore the mysteries and surprises our galaxy may hold, but that I'd never get to witness.

This is the stuff that has fueled much of my Trek image flood, since last August. I wish I lived in a time when we had to wrestle with understanding new intelligences beyond our planet. An so, here's another image exploring the concept. The Constitution (my further personalized Trek-based ship of the imagination) encounters what it has dubbed the Starminds (they otherwise have no name for themselves) - a race of deep space intelligences swimming through the currents of our galaxy's dust and gas spiral arms.

This piece is dedicated to old friends... namely Drell-7 and Wmwconnors. Two who I know share this sense of wonder and have explored it win me through many creative exercises. Thanks for your friendship and for fueling further dreams. It's also dedicated to all others who dare to dream what awaits us "beyond the cradle of Earth".
