The End

The end of days is coming. You could bank on that… only I really doubt there’ll be any banks around for you to collect from. Here is an image from one of Earth’s last years as a viable ecosphere, five billion years from now. Creatures and plants unrecognizable to us roam the increasingly arid landscape as the Sun becomes a slowly expanding red giant star that will eventually engulf the Earth as it grows. But before that our oceans and seas should be boiled away. These creatures forage for food in an increasingly arid landscape dominated by strange plants, perhaps some of which were created by Human genetic engineering before being reclaimed by the natural evolutionary process in the post-Human ages. In all probability, this is how it ends… not with a bang, but with low and slow barbeque.
