What's the rationale behind 4 nacelles? Constitution class masses more and gets by with only two, and (I thought) were some of the fastest ships in the fleet. This has got to be an expensive and complicated ship to fuel & operate, so there's definitely a reason. Just... what?
Well not having designed it I can't tell ya about the four nacelle thing, but they clearly laid down a precedent (for better or worse) with the Stargazer in TNG. And why three with the dreadnaught? Or one with the Scout/Destroyers? I loved the Tech Manual when it came out, but it really opened a pandora's box of ship design
