Voyage of the Untitled by Rob-Caswell Voyage of the Untitled by Rob-Caswell
Another 2300 AD image, though I totally forget where it appeared. I don't even have the original anymore (this is a scan of a Xerox). All I can tell you is that it was from 2300. It's a French starship. And it's pen and ink. This version features a couple of digital "enhancements".

Very nice. I like the design. I looks quite original (at least to me).

Impressive - love the design - the way it conveys construction - the external modules, I take it that the rod creates artificial gravity.

This should be CGI'ed - has a lot of great elements :D

HA! I'm glad you like it. If someone wanted to go all CG on it, I wish em luck. For me it's just not really a personal fave. I'd do my own model of a Traveller Fiery before this....

I love your designs for 2300 AD. Back then I thought you were one of the best RPG artists. Today I still think the same. Thank you for so many poferwul and awesome images!
I'll search my collection of 2300 and Challenge and I'll try to locate where it was used. It can take some time, 'though.

Oh, and I'm pretty sure the solar collector thingies fold up and stow when the ship is under acceleration.

Its a Richelieu Class Battleship. It was described in Ships of the French Arm and the Aurore Sourcebook. They were popular during the Kafer Wars Laurent Esmirol has done a beautiful 3D model of her, and compiled info on the ship which can be seen here: www.users.globalnet.co.uk/~dhe…

I never remembered the names they gave to the ships we designed--mostly they were named after we'd worked them up from the descriptions. But I DO remember the ships themselves, which we tried to keep consistent to basic assumptions. A lot of their purposes got totally scrambled after we turned them in, like the Single stage to orbit ship I did that got made into a starship (!) But the design work we did was solid.

It was solid.... until it got into Frank's hands and got turned into ships with a completely different purpose ;)

Arcas-Art, what dissapointed you about the 2300 AD game i.e. why didn't you play? I liked the setting but I found the mechanics awkward.

The game mechanics were a mess. The ship design rules sent me in circle. I loved the era and scope, but not the details of the background - the heavy emphasis on Kafer bashing. It just didn't have an atmosphere that appealed to my sense of adventure.... or my expectations from the core concept.

Beautiful. A lot of times I really question the abundance of magical gravity producing technology. I know that the main reason for it's popularity is simplicity in creating TV shows, but the reality seems to me to be much harder, if it's possible at all.
